The Devil's Margarita

Halloween was and still is one of my favorite times of the year. I'm not sure if it's the "spookiness" that fills the air, the horror movies, haunted houses, trick or treaters, free candy or the costumes, but there's something magical about Halloween night. Although this year has been one of the craziest and most unexpected, my Halloween spirit is very much alive. We may be forced to remain indoors, but through social media we can stay connected, and I'm looking forward to a timeline filled with painted faced and creative costumes.

In the spirit of Autumn, October and Halloween - Treat yourself to Jennifer Debths' Devil's Margarita recipe.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: Total Time: 5 Minutes

Here's what you'll need:

1 1/2 oz. of Tequila Blanco

3/4 oz. of lime juice, freshly squeezed

3/4 oz. of simple syrup

Red Wine, Cabernet or Carménère

Ready? Set. Go!

1. In a shaker: your go-to coffee mug will make a great substitute, filled with ice, pour in tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup

2. Shake until chilled and pour into a glass of your choice

3. Set a spoon at a 45 degree angle barely placed inside of the margarita

  • the back of the spoon should be facing the ceiling

4. Pinch the top of the wine bottle with your finger and slowly pour red wine onto the back of the spoon and let it drizzle on the surface of the margarita

5. Pour until you have about 1/4 inch of red wine in the glass

6. Enjoy :)

Side Notes from Jennifer

  • No simple sugar? NO WORRIES!

  • Mix equal parts of white sugar and water ( example: 7 oz. sugar, 7 oz. water) into a microwave safe container and heat until the sugar completely dissolves.

*cooking time will vary depending on how much sugar and water you're cooking*

  • If you want to make this for a crowd, make the base ahead of time

( Tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice) and place in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve!

*top each glass with the red wine when you're ready to serve*
