Love Your Melanin
"I cannot run away from who I am and my complexion or the larger society, and how they may view that." -Lupita Nyong'O
Unfortunately, we live in a society where our experiences are often shaped by the color of our skin. Where we live in constant fear for our black men. Where we are forced to accept less than because of the color of our skin. Where to some- our skin color is an immediate threat. We live in a society that leaves us feeling unattractive, inferior and uncomfortable. Too many of us have been victimized due to the color of our skin, and we may never be able to convince them that we are more than the color of out skin, but we can make a change within our community.
Every shade of Melanin deserves to be celebrated - today and every day after that. It doesn’t matter if you’re dark chocolate, milk chocolate or honey glazed: Whatever shade or size you come in – love your Melanin.
Teach our future Queens and Kings to love their melanin. Teach them about black excellence.
Teach them that there is power in Melanin. Teach them that our skin represent strength, beauty and excellence.
I feel special af after reading this 😥🔥😁
